Notes From Her Outdoors

I love the great outdoors. There's a lot out there to keep me fascinated.

Throughout 2010 I attempted to blog every new thing I saw as it came into season, wandered past me, or was found hiding in a sneaky niche.

Now I have the task of naming all the life I recorded - life was never sweeter.

This year I'm recording the things that catch my eye. and hopefully, will catch yours too.

Wish me luck, I'm going out!

Fungi - I wish!

So, this  selection of exhibits will have to suffice : )

All specimens found in the Sculpture area of ABBOTSBURY SUB TROPICAL GARDENS.

(I'll identify everything soon)

A some-what-past-it ....

CHICKEN OF THE WOODS - NOT!!!  It's Dyers Mazegill - Phaeulus schweinitzii

Very soft, spongy, moist fungus. Also Dyers Mazegill - Phaeulus schweinitzii!

Underside

Dyers Mazegill - Phaeulus schweinitzii. Amazing fungi, showing 2 different forms and colourways.

Small troop under pine needles, no milk drops when broken.

I have real problems with Puff and Earthballs......

I'll get to a doctor soon : )
Shot of the stipe. Probably Common Puffball or Scaly Earthball.

Will rotate the original and replace soon! Ramanaria decurrens or curta? It's a bit of a rarity.

Fungi 10.11.10

All this Fungi was lurking in one customers' garden. I'm green with envy and the customers are developing an interest in their Fungi.

Earth Star

Brittle Gill of some kind (so many, I get confused)

False Chantrelle

Underside of False Chantrelle

They also had yet more Wood Blewits/Blue Legs in their compost bins. I've picked about 3 a week for the last month from their place.

 Heaven.

What a fantastic haul of Alpine, French, Fungi as well as other things. We found this selection as we walked back down the path through the wood.
