Notes From Her Outdoors

I love the great outdoors. There's a lot out there to keep me fascinated.

Throughout 2010 I attempted to blog every new thing I saw as it came into season, wandered past me, or was found hiding in a sneaky niche.

Now I have the task of naming all the life I recorded - life was never sweeter.

This year I'm recording the things that catch my eye. and hopefully, will catch yours too.

Wish me luck, I'm going out!

A Walk In The Sun Tuesday 25.5.10

What an astonishing morning; a photo at every turn.

A HAZY SUN DRIZZLING EARLY MORNING  LIGHT UPON US.

We walked up the lane from St Georges field and bumped into a gang of Bunnies chilling in the warm sun.

It's got to be one of the best years for Buttercups I've ever seen.

In fact it seems to me that it's an unusually good year for all kinds of plant species, even this  Clover is plentiful.

Oak leaves are always late to arrive and are nibbled as they emerge.

Meanwhile, here we are in late May, and we still have an abundance of Dandelion clocks, lending a delicate touch to this meadow  chock full of species.

About a week ago, I spotted my first Cuckoo Spit. Well, now it's every where, but no sign of the Frog Hoppers that put it, and their eggs, there. II especially liked the way the light softly shone through this spittle as it hung from this Salad Burnet.

Wont be long before the Common Field Poppies burst, rich in tooth and claw, into crimson life.

What a delight grass is. So boring as a lawn, and yet, so intricate as part of The tapestry that makes up a meadow.

There's so much May Blossom at the moment, and a lot of it in pink, making the hedgerows look like huge pillows.

The more pink in the flowers, the darker the bush appears to be, the more white, the paler it looks. Obvious, I know, but how much colour variation we saw in this one meadow was outstanding.

Ash has been out for a while. I liked the sunburst effect at the tip of this pinnate (its' shape) leaf. It pleased me.

Out of the woods and into the meadow again. This is a lovely grass head, full of pollen.

BLESS YOU!!

FOX

Same one, same place, same time of day.

Into the Pensile Road woods, and NO, I have no idea, yet, what this plant is ..... but I'll find out.

And once onto Pensile Road, there was a mass of  COW PARSLEY/WILD CHERVIL. Such a lovely plant, big, blowzy and edible.

CAN'T BEAT IT.
