Notes From Her Outdoors

I love the great outdoors. There's a lot out there to keep me fascinated.

Throughout 2010 I attempted to blog every new thing I saw as it came into season, wandered past me, or was found hiding in a sneaky niche.

Now I have the task of naming all the life I recorded - life was never sweeter.

This year I'm recording the things that catch my eye. and hopefully, will catch yours too.

Wish me luck, I'm going out!

Squirrel -Friday 25.2.11

These are pretty rubbish photos, I know, taken through the back doors of our kitchen. But, I use them as a lead into what's been happening out there this week.

Try as I might,  haven't managed to get a picture of the squirrel, seen here, with its' new mate. This is the bold one.

As long as I stay behind glass, it carries on regardless. It's NEW BEST FRIEND on the other hand, is terrified, legginit the second it gets wind of us. When they arrive together and don't separate the moment I pick up the nearest camera, I'll take and then,post a shot.

So, what else has been going on here in this tiniest of gardens? Just this week we've had a GOLDCREST feeding on the fat feeder above (no, not the fat feeding squirrel) most days and also a flock of SISKINS chattering in the huge COPPER BEECH tree that over shadows this speck of a garden.

Out the front, the STARLINGS are back and have been checking out the nest site that overlooks the garden. We have seen nothing of the LONG TAILED TITS over the last couple of weeks, perhaps they're pairing up,  and lots of other types of TIT, who've been checking out the NEST BOXES that are dotted around the place. On top of all that, THE BIRDS ARE BEGINNING TO SING;

SPRING IS SPRINGING.
