The Twins are getting very bold, and over the last week have had a little friend tagging along.
The third Badger always hangs back, but is almost able to make it to the food, before being spooked.
Sometimes an adult (you can tell this because it's fat in the face) escorts the twins. This is happening less and less now as they gain in confidence.
They'll sell their little baby souls for nuts and other proteins.
As with all life, generations come and go. In my neighbours' garden we found a dead Badger. It's a proper mess and I'm not sure what happened to it.
Whether a dog got hold of this Badger and killed it, or the Badger died and was then partially eaten, I don't know. All I do know is that I had to dispose of it. Please don't press me for the gory details.
It does explain that intense musky, farmyard smell that we thought was associated with the Muntjac deer that passed through recently (see 'Labels'). That'll be a rotting Badger/mustalid then.
