Notes From Her Outdoors

I love the great outdoors. There's a lot out there to keep me fascinated.

Throughout 2010 I attempted to blog every new thing I saw as it came into season, wandered past me, or was found hiding in a sneaky niche.

Now I have the task of naming all the life I recorded - life was never sweeter.

This year I'm recording the things that catch my eye. and hopefully, will catch yours too.

Wish me luck, I'm going out!

A Summer Walk

After a week of doing other stuff,  we set off at 8.00am, as usual, and walked our regular route. It felt good to slip into our normal routine.

Quite a few changes have occurred, the main one being the ORCHIDS, they're out in big numbers!

There's this one, above;
and this one below -

They're different.

This pure white DOG ROSE is in the second batch of the Species.

As is this lovely PINK DOG ROSE.

I fell in love with this fly, with its' fab wings and things!

Common Blue Damsel Fly - same colour as the sky.

I eventually managed to find the 2 types of ORCHID next to each other. Handy for comparison. I liked the bee too!

At SPRING MILL this little DIPPER caught my eye, in his best BIB AND TUCKER.

On the same stretch of water, the WATER CRESS is in full bloom.

In the PENSILE ROAD WOODS a shaft of sunlight pierced the woodland canopy and illuminated this COW PARSLEY.

Last, but by no means, least, I stumbled across these tiny, soft, FUNGI. They've only just appeared on a rotten log.

All in all a lovely walk, with lots to see.
